Accented paradiddles on the toms to practice for next week.
Rh accents on the floor tom lh accents on the 1st rack tom.
Also section e of fall out to try and have down for next week. Don't worry too much about the track but be confident with the fills and groove variations.

Tigan 26/11/18

Really good lesson today Tigan!
Sitting on the dock of the bay: just warm up with this piece. Try and increase your confidence with the transitions.
Yeah: really great progress with the 1/4 hi-hat pattern this week. Build up both the speed and number of repetitions gradually over the week. See if you can play the groove from memory after you gave practiced it a little as thus will make it feel secure.

Oscar 26/11/18

WArm up: use the triplet phrases from last week but now try splitting up the two triplets into pairs of notes around the toms.
Remember these ex's are supposed to develop your technique and coordination to keep this in mind as you practice!

Lewis 26/11/18

Warm up: trip, was looking much better this week. See if you can just build your confidence plying the exercise for next week.

Midnight hour: have a go at the first bar with the two crashes in. Keep it slow build the whole bar as a phrase and don't forget that your right hand moves to the ride not the hi-hat!
Yeah: almost spot on this week. Just the open hi-hat to add for next lesson.

Jamie 26/11/18

Warm up: 8th notes and 16ths around the drums but now add in the bass drum line we did today in your lesson!

Another one bites the dust: main groove played well today! Aim for next week us to be able to play at least 8 bars continuously to the track :-)

Anabelle 26/11/18

Warm with ex 9and 10 below. Start trying to play it around the kit.
Try using as a drum fill. One bar of groove and then use the exercise as a fill.

Yeah: the groove at b now needs to be comfortable at a higher tempo! Try just playing 1 bar at speed to start and then build it up!

Start looking at the first bar if midnight hour for next week!

Nathaniel 26/11/18

Well done with your GCSE recording!
Your next challenge is hold the line by Toto.
You made excellent progress with the intro to this track. See if you can tidy it up for next lesson.
Start looking at the verse groove.
Listen to Jeff pocaro on the original song how he gets his tight Driving feel to push the band along!

Max 26/11/18

Warm up: really well practiced this week. Your next challenge is to add a bass drum in the 1/4 note under neath each pattern. Start trying to increase the tempo but remember you still need to have control!

My name is: his piece is sounding really good now. The last two parts to iron out are the transition into the first verse and nit rushing the last two bars!

Untitled by d'angelo: finished in a lesson great work.

Yellow: by cold play: see how much if this you can finish for next lesson.

Aaron 26/11/18

Lesson 10 ex 5-8 to practice as fills around the kit. Start experimenting wth the voicing.
Losing my religion: intro fill and groove at section A can be played but not 100% confident at tempo. Try and work in thus for next week.
Groove at B sounding secure but also needs working up to tempo.

Hattie26/11/18

This week focus on the groove below.
Have listen to the track to see how this bass drum pattern feels to play!

Tom 26/11/18

Freebound tech: bounce the stick off the drum and let it rebound as many times as you can.
Look at the first bar if funky president: focus on the double bass drum and ghosted snare notes (the ones in brackets)
Next week we will start on sweet home Alabama by L Skynrd

Price 26/11/18

8ths and 16ths around the kit are looking much better this week!
Groove was sounding good this week. Your next task is to practice coming in accurately first time every time!
Have a listen to a song and see if you can play along!

James 26/11/18

Below is the new groove I would like you to work on.
Take your time. Remember to aim for control nit speed when you practice!

Chislon 12/11/18

See your email for practice and resources.

Lewis 12/11/18

Warm up: practice these triplet phrases below. Watch your sticking and count to help make sure it is 100% accurate.
When they feel comfortable try playing one bar of groove and then use one of the phrases as a fill.

Yeah: this is coming together really well.
Make sure you don't rush the 1/4 note groove at the start. By the end of the lesson you were playing the whole intro to the track really well.

Annabelle 12/11/18

Warm up with the ex's below. The counting out loud us the key to this. Clap out the rhythms first if you need to.

Keep looking at yeah for next week!

Nathaniel 12/11/18

Window seat really well played today.
Use the RLBRLBRL fill sticking fir the fill.
If your hi hat starts to feel tense and lose its smoothness relax, consciously relax and reduce the stick height a little.
Make sure the buzzed ghost notes are smooth and clear!

Hattie 12/11/18

Fills for Billie Jean much better. Re-cap them separately first then as transitions. You discovered today that counting as you play helps you feel more confident and to know where you are in the piece so apply this to your practice.
Nicely played to the track today!

Oscar 12/11/18

Warm up:
Go over the triplet exercises below. Start slow especially when adding in the bass drum. Make sure you keep checking your grip and hand position!
Smooth: the first page is sounding strong now. Re-cap the fills and make sure you are confident where they are.
Take some time getting used to the open hi-hat groove in bar 35. Start slow and remember it needs to feel comfortable at each stage.

Max 12/11/18

Warm up:
Bounce the stick. Drop it on to the drum and let it bounce as many times as possible!
After this try four rebounds on each hand RRRR LLLL

My name is: the key to this piece is counting and being able to count it out loud as you play. Just the transitions to tidy up now and you will be able to finish thus next lesson.

James G 12/11/18

Warm up: keep working on the warm up from last lesson. The faster 16th note fills in brown eyed girl require you build up some technical head room and control.

Brown eyed girl: see if you can work on the fills on the first page. Remember to give the notes their correct value and practice slowly to ensure that you are. A dotted note or rest has half its value added on.

Le freak: up to the end of the first time bar needs finishing for next week including the fill. Remember to listen to the track and try to hear where the section changes are coming in!

Chris 12/11/18

Warm up: go over the 16th note hi-hat development groove adding a bass drum on the "a" of beat 1.
Great work on the ear tests this week. You can practice thus at home by putting in a track listen to the first four bars and see if you can replicate the groove.
Keep working on the pieces for next lesson.

Have a go at the ex's below. Count through them carefully and see if you can use them as fill ideas when combined with a simple groove. Try not to start too quickly!

Chislon 05/11/18

Come together: instrumental section needs looking at fir next week. Practice your transitions and fills. WTch you don't rush and be strict with your stickings!
See if you can get sone practice in before or after school before next week!

Anabelle 05/11/18

You now have the charts and the tracks for I want to break free and yeah. The first groove of yeah is tricky but you had it completely sorted when you counted it out loud so make sure you do thus when you practice at home.
I want to break free is great but when you play to the track sometimes your time wonders a little bit. Trust your self and if you need to practice just the snare and bass drum pattern to the track to get it to lock in!

Aaron P 05/11/18

Flams: hand position and try not too play too hard! Stick heights were very good.
Losing my religion: intro fill was good but the transition needs to be smooth and at speed.
Practice the groove in section B for next week. Thus needs to feel comfortable before we work on it to the track!

Oscar 05/11/18

Up town funk sounded really nice this week.
Smooth: practice the intro fill especially for next week. Have a listen to the original if you forget how the first fill sounds.
Make sure you are familiar with the folks on the first page.

The hi-hat needs to be a little quieter to give it the smooth slick feel.

Nathaniel 05/11/18

Warm up: keep working on the free bound ex for next week. (Drop the stick and let it bounce) this is looking much much better than before H/T.
Start using your RLBB sticking as a fill. Now you are comfortable with it see if you can split the rightward left hand up, by moving your right hand around the kit.

Window seat: practice the fill at the top if p2 as we did in lessons. Start simple and then experiment playing the fill around the kit.

Max 05/11/18

Warm up: 8th and 16th note combinations around the kit.
My name is; excellent reading this week! Practice the timing of the transitions go through slowly as we did in the lesson. Count out loud focusing on keeping the tempo secure!

Jamie 05/11/18

Warm up: one bar of groove and then 1 bar of 8th  notes around the drums.
Another one bites the dust: listen through and see if you can count and tap the groove along with the track! Take care you count your self in correctly. This coming together really nicely.

Tom 05/11/18

Regulation R: fill in bar 6 to polish fur next week. Take your time and slow down if you need to. Excellent reading and playing. This week.

Price 05/11/18

Warm up 2's and 4's sounding good. Now add a bass drum on the 1:4 note!

James G 05/11/18

Warm up: single stroke ex's make sure you alternate right and left hand lead.
Le freak: focus on the fill in the first time bar. See if you can nemorise for next week.
